2007 Pumpkin Growing Journal
Back to main page
It is February 12th, I sit here at my computer looking out the window at the biggest snow storm all year. I wonder if the season will arrive. It will but I get anxious to get on with it. To get my hands in the dirt and to feel the sweat of my brow. Now it is time to think about what to do different. That is where it gets difficult. Much of this hobby is a game of luck. I can do very little to change the weather which I believe to my number one limiting factor. The second limiting factor is that life is a balancing act. One must balance kids, spouse, family, excercise, church and other hobbies and decide where pumpkin growing fits into the scheme of things. When push comes to shove one must alway remember that after all it is JUST A PUMPKIN! So if you don't have the biggest pumpkin in the world no one will really care. Enjoy the ride as that is the greatest fun of all. Include the family, make this as much their activity as it is yours, then time spent in the garden is time spent growing kids, relationships, and memories not time spent allienating yourself from the things that are really important in your life.

Check out the links below that I will update as the season progresses.
