The weather turned out fabulous. I actually got a little sunburned. High tempurature was 77 degrees with nothing but sun. A far cry from last years weighoff during which we had snow and the temp was 32.7 degrees at check in time. I'll take the sunburn any day.
Over all we had fewer growers and fewer pumpkins. I think this was do to our miserable spring weather. Most growers who were not real dedicated got their plants froze in the ground. The state fair also had a pathetic turnout.
We had more spectators this year which goes along with the nice weather. I notified all the local newpapers and TV stations but no one was interested in a local interest story. We still about 200 people. |
